Gravitational Generative Art

20 Dec 2009

This project nicknamed kepler aimed to build unique, generative artwork. Each execution fills a virtual “universe” with a number of particles of varying mass. As gravitational forces are exerted on one another, the universe forces color hue changes which show the paths traced by each particle over time. While the goal is to produce interesting static images, watching each unfold is half the fun. Here is a video demo showing a few iterations (BoC lighting up the cones). The first few iterations show limited particle history while later ones leave it intact. Static captures from the photo set on flickr follow.
